PROGRAM
Over 430 formerly incarcerated women have been served by Angela House since 2002. Every one of them came to us with a different story. We focus on building self-esteem and self-determination, traits most of our residents lost sight of while incarcerated. Our program is unique because we adjust it to meet the needs of the women on a case-by-case basis, with the same ultimate goal: to keep them from re-offending and returning to incarceration.
Residents entering Angela House help the Case Manager and the therapist to create an individualized plan for their therapy and well-being needs. For the first 4-6 months, residents focus on recovery, attending 12-step meetings, medical appointments and individual and group counseling. As they progress through the program, the receive intensive education programming that includes life skills and financial literacy. After that initial period, residents secure stable employment while investing 75% of their earnings into a Resident Savings Account.
There is a strong correlation between length of stay at Angela House and a healthy transition back into society. Residents make a four-month commitment with the understanding that they can extend their time to one year or more in order to accomplish their goals and successfully reintegrate into society.
