Angela House

To successfully transition women back into society after incarceration.

After Care

Angela House maintains a relationship with those women who complete our program and choose to participate in our “After Care” Program.  The women in “After Care” give service to Angela House in various capacities as needed, including offering support to the women who are still in residence.  In return, the women in “After Care” have the ongoing and continuing support of Angela House as their particular needs arise. Our quarterly luncheon with a graduate gives our current women the opportunity to meet with a "kindred spirit" to encourage them to move toward a successful transition.

Aftercare is a relatively informal process and services vary based on individual needs.   The success of our residents is measured by sobriety, a secure means of support, healthy relationships and continued abstinence from criminal activities.  The success of the women who participate in the program and accomplish the goals developed during their time at Angela House is a measure of the success of the program.  Recidivism rates are a key factor in evaluating our success.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (2005), Texas has a recidivism rate of 45.7%.  To date, Angela House has a recidivism rate of just 24%.  76% of our former residents have not returned to jail and remain drug free.
